Care Instructions

Ensure your premium Winston Sahd furniture remains in pristine condition for years to come by having a look at our Frequently Asked Questions on how to care for your furniture below:

When spillage occurs, avoid rubbing the stained area, as this could damage the fabric. Gently wipe it off IMMEDIATELY using a clean, damp and well wrung out cloth (we recommend using a microfibre cloth with no chemicals on it).

Always use the brush attachment when vacuuming your Upholstered Couch, as this helps prevent damage to the fabric.

For general upkeep, avoid excessive sunlight, dampness, and hot or cold conditions that could cause fading or damage to the fabric.

We suggest applying our Master Guard fabric protection to protect your Couch against wear and tear, as well as liquid spills from penetrating the fabric’s surface. This makes it easier and faster to remove a spill before it turns into a permanent stain. Please inquire in-store for pricing.

We suggest you gently move your furniture when redecorating, cleaning or relocating, as well as to clean your furniture frequently with appropriate cleaning products.

Also avoid placing hot objects on your furniture, and exposing your premium pieces to direct sunlight.

Most cracks and splits occur in Wood naturally, however additional and unnatural cracks can be caused due to fluctuations in weather, direct exposure to sunlight or excess humidity.

We suggest you protect your premium pieces by proper cleaning and regular maintenance like dusting/polishing.

Care Instructions

Upholstery

  • When an accidental spillage occurs, wipe/brush it off IMMEDIATELY using a clean and damp cloth (please properly wring the cloth out to ensure it is not dripping wet — we suggest using a microfibre cloth that has not had chemicals on it).
  • DO NOT rub the stained area, as this could also damage the fabric.
  • Avoid excessive sunlight, dampness and hot or cold conditions that could cause fading or damage to the fabric.

Leather

  • DO NOT use detergents when cleaning Leather.
  • For routine cleaning, dust lightly with a soft, dry cloth/use a damp cloth to gently wipe it down (please properly wring the cloth out to ensure it is not dripping wet — we suggest using a microfibre cloth that has not had chemicals on it).
  • Place Leather furniture at least 40 cm from any heat sources to help prevent its colour from fading.
  • Avoid excessive sunlight, as this could lead to both colour and Leather deterioration.

Imitation Leather

  • Use a damp cloth to gently wipe your Imitation Leather furniture down with a non-abrasive cloth (please properly wring the cloth out to ensure it is not dripping wet — we suggest using a microfibre cloth).
  • Avoid excessive sunlight and heat, as this could dry out your Imitation Leather and cause it to crack.

Sealed Wood

  • For routine cleaning, use a damp cloth (please properly wring the cloth out to ensure it is not dripping wet — we suggest using a microfibre cloth).
  • Clean spills/smudges with a damp cloth or cleaning polish (please also properly wring the cloth out to ensure it is not dripping wet).
  • Polish with a silicone-free polish (polishing too often may result in a waxy build-up).
  • Avoid excessive sunlight and dampness.

Glass

  • For routine cleaning, use a mild detergent mixed with warm water to wipe the surface. Afterwards buff the surface with a dry cotton cloth.
  • Avoid putting heavy items on the Glass.

Marble

  • For routine cleaning, use a mild detergent (like dish detergent) mixed with warm water to wipe the surface. Afterwards use a damp non-abrasive cloth/sponge (we suggest using a microfibre cloth that has not had chemicals on it) to gently wipe your Marble down.
  • DO NOT use Vinegar, Windex or Bleach, as these acidic substances will eat into the Marble and dull the stone.

MDF

  • Keep MDF products away from direct sunlight, heaters, wet or rough surfaces (we do not recommend using MDF products outdoors).
  • Gently remove dust particles and clean the surfaces regularly with a soft, white, clean, cotton cloth.
  • For more cleaning power, clean the surface using a soft, clean, white, cotton cloth dampened in lukewarm water. Leave the surface to dry.
  • Please don’t use abrasive cleaners, such as soft scrub cleansers or scouring sponges.
  • Test all cleaners first for the effect on a small surface of MDF that is not immediately visible.

Capiz Shell

  • Dampen a soft cloth in cool water, and wring the cloth to remove excess water.
  • Wipe your Capiz Shell to remove dirt, dust, residue and buildup. This is all the cleaning that is routinely needed for Capiz Shell pieces.

Aluminium

  • Spray a cleaner onto your Aluminium piece.
  • Scrub all surfaces with a soft-bristled brush or sponge.
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Let your Aluminium furniture air dry completely (preferably in filtered sunlight or partial shade) before putting cushions back or storing.

Suede

  • Regular gentle brushing is an excellent way to keep your Suede looking immaculate.
  • For stain removal, clean up any spills and wait for the area to dry completely, then give it a brush with a soft Suede brush. Use gentle circular brush movements while applying a little more pressure on the relevant area.

Brass

  • Unlacquered Brass tarnishes when exposed to air. A weekly wiping with a little liquid ammonia on a soft cloth will help keep it shiny.

Paper Veneer

  • For routine cleaning, use a dry microfibre cloth to wipe down the surface.

Iron

  • For regular cleaning, use a white Dove soap and water, followed by a thorough drying with a towel.
  • If you notice calcium build-up on your wrought Iron furniture, you can try using a solution of 1-part white distilled vinegar and 9-part water to help remove it.

Stainless Steel

  • For regular cleaning, use warm water and a liquid detergent for cleaning, always rinse well with water and dry with a soft cloth.

Resin

  • Softly brush away loose debris.
  • Use a clean damp/dry cloth and be careful not to apply too much pressure. Clean as you would the rest of your wooden products.
